Pompey Push Adams off the Cliff

Yesterday's miraculous comeback by Liverpool was wonderful for me, but not so sweet for beleaguered, forlorn Pompey manager Tony Adams.

Within the last hour, the boardroom decided to put him out of his misery, firing him after barely three full months in charge. Winless in the EPL since November 30, they don't look like turning things around any time soon, but honestly, you can't place full blame on Tony. After all, his owners sold Diarra and Defoe to keep the finances in good stead, and that was perhaps the final nail in his coffin regardless of Torres' late goal last night.

No clue what happens next at Fratton Park. I hear Kevin Keegan's available.

Pompey and Blackburn, you both deserve the drop for your reckless impatience.

Give a manager half a chance...

Portsmouth... Come for the FA Cup victory, stay for the relegation battle.

Here comes Avram.

Herbert Lom returns to EPL? I bet two weeks at Fratton Park will give the Clouseau twitch.

I wouldn't mind seeing Grant if only to find out if he can actually manage, or if he was just the BArry Swtizer of the EPL.

He got a lot more out of that Chelsea side than Scolari's getting out of it. I'd be interested to see what he can do at Popmey...just so long as they stay below Spurs in the relegation fight.

Roy -

Couldn't agree more. Though after an undefeated WC qualifying campaign as Israel national team manager, and 4 domestic titles in Israel (2 with Tel Aviv and 2 with Haifa) I'm confident he can do a decent job if given the time and resources.

so much for three matches. anyway, thats what you get for hiring a gooner manager.

Bring me the Mortician!

A friend of mine says that Avram Grant looks exactly like his cantor.

Never thought I'd see the words "Barry Switzer" and "EPL" next to each other in a sentence....

I would love to see Barry Switzer manage in the Prem, even if it was only in a madcap Hollywood farce.
