What Goes Well With Beans And Toast?

Cheryl Cole, obviously.

The wife of Chelsea philanderer defender Ashley Cole and member of Girls Aloud has been chosen as the favorite breakfast partner of UK men. Television presenters Ant and Dec (who?) were the top choices of UK women.

Excuse me while I daydream about Cheryl Cole and my pig in a blanket.

strangely enough, Ant and Dec were also the top choices for Ashley

I've just spent the last 20 minutes or so looking up beans and toast recipes. Any of you Brits here know of a suitable brand of beans to use? It seems that Heinz is the only acceptable kind in the UK but the same kind isn't readily available in the US. Apparently there are some folks on the interwebs who have very strong feelings about this sort of thing.

What does it say about me that I was looking up beans and toast recipes rather than looking for pictures of the lovely Ms. Cole?

that you would rather have breakfast with Ashley?

Actually, I probably would. Then I could punch him in the face.

tempting as that is, I think I would still have to choose Cheryl.

So I could listen to her sing.

Cheryl Cole is who British men would most like to eat breakfast? No shit.

Who has beans on toast for breakfast?! It's a lunch meal. Or a supper one. Perhaps a dinner/tea.

Unless you wake up late or skip breakfast and therefore class it is perhaps "brunch".

Anyway, Goat, take your pick of brands. Personally, I go for the cheapest supermarket own brand ones I can find. Generally, they're OK and I've never been a huge fan of HP although they are the stereotype.

Trust me, I know my beans on toast - I was a student for long enough and pretty much lived on them. I can recommend topping the hot beans off with a sprinkling of grated cheddar; or mixing in some Branston Pickle; or coating with HP Sauce.

Much obliged, Mosher.

HP sauce can save about anything. That stuff is dynamite.

Phil - you verily doth speak the truth. Best sauce in the world, bar none. Shame it's not made in the UK any more, though I think the old factory is still painted in the familiar colours with the logo round the top. It was last time I passed it anyway.
