UF Quick Throw: Ince is Out at Blackburn

In Happier Times...

In news that should shock precisely no one, Blackburn sacked manager Paul Ince this morning. The Rovers have played 17 games this year, winning only three. They've lost five on the hop and sit 5 points below sea level. A 3-0 loss to Wigan this weekend sealed his fate. In all, Ince spent six months at Ewood Park.

He's the sixth manager to lose his job in that period. The decision comes about 10 days after old United teammate Roy Keane walked out on Sunderland. No word yet on a successor—early odds favor a return for former Liverpool, Rangers, Southhampton, Benfica, Newcastle, Torino, Galatasaray, and Rovers boss Graeme Souness. Ince was the Premier League's first black manager.

Charles Barkley thinks this is just a turrible decision.

Please, African-American.

Georger, Ince is British, not American.

Okay, I'll stop now and threadjack:

TLL and Georger, what do you make of the latest round of rumors about Keane heading back to Spurs?

Mike Georger said...

Oh since he's black he can't just be a regular American? I see how it is.

I don't really see it happening but if they want to give us Bale and Lennon in exchange I'll take it. I still trust him to come good.

Bale and Lennon for Keano? You're mad. I think it would have to be a loan deal, anyway, though, being as the transfer rules are only slightly less complicated than the U.S. tax code, I'm not sure about that.

That is not the preferred nomenclature.

Ahh... Graeme Souness. Now THERE'S a manager who doesn't walk out on teams when they're suffering.

I'd take him back, no questions. The question is what we'd give back. If they want Lennon, then the deal is off. Not happening. Bale and 8-10 million is doable, maybe...

Visions of Sylvester Croom run through my head . . .

And if I may, the "Keane back to Spurs" things reminds me of the scene in Snatch where the Pikeys sell the damaged trailer to Tommy, and when Tommy tries to get a refund, they say, "What we want a caravan with no wheels for?"
