Confederations Cup Liveblog: Egypt-USA

Is this the day the US finally solves its problem up top?

Are you ready for some bloodshed? We feel the same as most of you that US Soccer needs a change at the top and at the manager position. Today may be the day that triggers one of these occurrences. But probably not.

USA, of course, are coming off of back to back red card laden losses against Italy (3-1) and Brazil (3-0). Egypt have been much more impressive, fighting Brazil to the end (4-3) and defeating Italy 1-0 on Thursday. USA are in the woeful position of likely placing 8th in the eight team field, which would happen if the Americans lose today.

But, it's not a total lost cause yet. With at least a three goal win today (and a heavy Italian loss), the US can still move on. Egypt, too, has a lot to play for and can advance by bettering Italy's result. Bigus will be liveblogging the Italy-Brazil match, so join us both in the comments.

USA: Guzan, Bornstein, Onyewu, DeMerit, Spector, Dempsey, Clark, Donovan, Bradley, Davies, Altidore.

Egypt: El Hadari, El Mohamady, Said, Gomaa, Fathi, Abd Rabou, Eid, Shawky, Farag, Abdel-Ghani, Aboutreika.

Guzan gets the unsurprising start in net, while the backline remains the same. Davies, who some like a lot more than I do, also gets the start while Torres continues to pay penance for prank calling Bradley's hotel room after the Costa Rica match.

Here's hoping El Hadary has a howler today to balance out the wonder match he had against Italy. Zidan is a notable absence for Egypt up top. I still know next to nothing about this team, so be on the lookout for my mistakes (and forgive them, it's Fathers Day).

Kick in 15. Bring your vuvuzela.

-5.00 Sign in the stands: "USA ready to loose", held by an Egyptian fan. My response:

Yeah! Take that!

-2.00 Surprise of the tournament so far: no cards for Michael Bradley. He's my call for today's USA red card.

0.00 Kickoff. Here we go.

2.00 Dempsey 8 games without a goal. Roy Hodgson would not allow that.

3.00 Abdelghany with an Egypt shot as DeMerit misplays the ball. Poor start, confidence wise, in the back.

3.00 Within the same minute, another dangerous chance for Egypt. Luckily, there was whiff from six yards out. This could get ugly.

5.00 NYK-Who knows? Maybe he's just dug his heels in and refuses to change. Dempsey's free kick from 30 takes a wicked deflection, but didn't have enough sting to get past El Hadary.

6.00 Rico Clark has a shot deflected out for a corner. El Hadary easily covers Landy's corner. Quick throw out is not controlled well.

8.00 I'd like to see Holden called up.

10.00 Clark is itching for anything. Tries a shot from 22 yards out and 10 yards wide of the goal. Goes twenty yards wide on the far side.

12.00 Dempsey gets called for a foul. Asks the ref what he is calling. Replay bears Deuce out. Free kick results in a scrum in the box. Egypt looked to have a couple of chances to slot it home, but USA scrambles it away. El Hadary gets a good save on the other end while I'm yelling at Harkes.

13.00 Shot was by Bradley. Outstetched hand of El Hadary palmed it away.

16.00 Donovan makes a great run from midfield, getting a diagonal ball from Dempsey. Landy gets past his last man, squares up to the keeper, and passes to no one. He was expecting Jozy to fill in at the back post, but Jozy checked to the penalty spot. A great opportunity lost.

18.00 Ooo-sa with better run of play so far, but Egypt with the better chances. There is some space behind the Egypt defense. The US just has to get there.

20.00 Donovan attempts a lob, it falls about a foot in front of the keeper.

21.00 GOAL Charlie Davies never gives up on a scramble. EL Hadary flops on a low cross, but it squirms free. Davies takes a couple of swipes at it and finally banks it in for the goal. 1-0 USA. BTW, I was about to call for Jozy off at HT, as he looks slow, but his play on the endline made it possible for Davies to get on the ball.

El Hadary's pride is bruised. Bring on the magic spray. Update:El Hadary's pride is bleeding out the top of his head. Kicked by his own player.

24.00 Honestly, he's been down almost three minutes. Get him off.

26.00 Still down. The US really needs this game to restart.

27.00 El Hadary up. Respectful clap given.

28.00 Brazil-Italy going to end at 0-0 if this scoreline holds up. Book it.

29.00 Donovan, playing out on the left today, picks up the ball at midfield, runs at everyone and almost beats El Hadary with one last dribble. He looks energized by having someone else score.

30.00 Fact: Johnnie Spector and Lucas Glover are the same person. Guzan pulls down a nice save off of a weak poke by Abu Trika.

31.00 El Hadary needs treatment again. He took off the wrap. Looks like the ref told him to sit, but he would not. Play goes on.

32.00 There has to be a better option than DeMerit. He's whiffed a couple of times on easy balls today.

35.00 Onyewu lucky to not pick up a "Onyewu PK call" there. Climbed over the back on a cross.

36.00 Deuce gives the ball away in midfield. This usually leads to a goal. Not this time, but close.

38.00 Egypt dove for a PK in the box. Should be a yellow, but no stoppage yet. Brazil up 1-0. Yellow Card Spector booked for, well, not much.

38.00 Egypt shot from 30 clips the top of the crossbar. Guzan late on it.

40.00 If I wanted to watch Brazil-Italy, I'd switch channels. Fuckers. As the US was attacking, no less.

41.00 Once again, Altidore can do nothing while the ball is near him. It's painful to watch and care. Get better, buddy.

42.00 Man, if Egypt counterattacked with any verve, they would be much more dangerous today.

43.00 Brazil score again. Need two more in each match.

44.00 Bradley whistled for a foul. Egypt are divers. They are very good at it, though, it's hard to see at full speed. Brazil up 3-0. That's shocking.

44.00 Is Italy looking to go home?

45.00 Davies catches up to a long ball and fires a left foot shot. Saved by El Hadari. Jozy gets the ball. Loses it.

45.00 Egypt go through if these scorelines hold. USA goes though with a three goal swing.

45.00 Onyewu cuts out a ball that was seeking out an open man on the penalty spot. Nice read of the play by Gooch.

45.00 USA with a couple of good looks in stoppage. Bradley pulls a DMB inside the box and misses out on a chance.

Tweet Tweet TWEEEET Half time. USA all over Egypt at the end. Game has had many swings in momentum. Both teams look good for a goal or two in the 2nd.

I would recommend taking Altidore out at half. Maybe Adu, but I would like Torres better. Push Dempsey up for 15 minutes to play behind Davies and see what he can do. If nothing, sub Dempsey as well.

One other thing--Davies has great speed. If Egypt find themselves having to push up, then look for the former BC Eagle to exploit the holes.

45.01 Here we go. We still need at least two USA goals and another +1 in a swing with Italy. Anyone thing Egypt will park the bus in the 2nd given that they are through at this point?

46.00 Guzan starting to get hairstyling tips from Friedel at Aston Villa as well, it seems.

48.00 Bornstein lucky to not get a card, I think. Yellow Card Bradley. Late. Not much to it.

49.00 Davies with a low cross to Jozy, who lets it run without a touch. Sub Eid off, Hassan on.

50.00 Once again, Hassan takes the armband from El Harady. That's just weird.

51.00 Very close for US. Gooch wins the ball and dribbles up. Passed it off to Dempsey who got clobbered after outletting. Ball runs to Jozy who shoots and deflects off the arm of a defender on the line. Possible PK, but not given.

53.00 I'll say it, since I have the floor. If your arm is away from your body, it should be called. His arm was away from the body and stopped a goal. Even if he knew nothing about it.

54.00 Sub Fathi off, Said on. Fathi got hurt when Deuce was taken out and fell on his leg.

56.00 El Hadary with another nice save from distance on Bradley. Why couldn't he get a concussion when kneed in the back of the head?

58.00 Egypt are doing a lot of standing around on defense. Us not trying too hard to break it down, instead shooting from distance. One good wall pass and this is opened up.

59.00 Gooch is having a beast of a game today. He is single handedly controlling the air in the box.

60.00 Altidore ole's a header. Sub, please.

61.00 Guzan saves an offside shot. He looks a bit like El Hadary on Thursday. Not letting anything past. Final Egyptian sub upcoming.

61.00 Sub Abdelghani hurt, off. Abougrisha on. Egypt out of subs.

63.00 GOAL Michael Bradley slides one home. It was a 1-2 between him and Landy. Let's go, motherfuckers, get another one and go through. 2-0 USA

65.00 Egypt are dead men walking right now. Still getting attacks, but really trying once they get in the final third. This is doable.

67.00 Hassan and Bornstein go head to head in the corner. Stalemate. Followed by another Egyptian offside.

68.00 Altidore sacks up and makes some pretty good moves on the end line. If only he could get the ball there every time.

69.00 Sub Altidore off, Feilhaber on. Deuce or Landy to move up? Looks like Deuce.

70.00 Davies starting to look a little gassed.

71.00 GOAL DEUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. 3 fuckin' nil. Hey look, move Dempsey up, let's see what happens. There were a couple of players who could have put that cross home, Deuce did it. El Hadary just lost.

73.00 OOOO-sa. OOO-sa. OOOO-sa

74.00 Well, this is definitely interesting. USA are through at this point, but with 15+ to go, it's not safe here or there. Come on Brazil, don't let Rossi fuck it up for us.

75.00 Egypt attacking with purpose now. Clark butts one out of bounds.

76.00 Ball stuck in the middle. I'll take it.

77.00 Davies dives. No call. Time running.

78.00 Sure is a lot better playing 11 on 11.

80.00 Telling cross smothered by Guzan. No possession for US at this point.

81.00 NOOOOOOO. Not Casey. Do not want.

81.00 Sub Davies off, Conor Casey on.

83.00 Yellow Card Al Muhamedi throws an elbow to the back of Donovan's head.

84.00 Dempsey stays down after a challenge from Gomaa. Elbowed in the back on a header. No call. Looks like 2002 WC Mexico match with the challenges. Who is our Cobi Jones now?

86.00 US controlling more. Casey not so swell. Nervous.

87.00 Deuce has really picked his game up since being moved up. Cross for Casey goes for nought when Casey decides to hide behind his defender.

89.00 Corner for Egypt. Casey does something good and heads it away convincingly. Comes back in and Gomaa has the chance of the match for Egypt. Head it over from 6.

90.00 Other game over. 3-0 Brazil. Corner kick coming. Cleared away. 3 minutes stoppage.

90.00 100 seconds left. Egypt getting close.

90.00 1 minute. Egypt foul. USA looking to salt it away.

90.00 30 secs. El Hadary walks it to midfield and Egypt are offside. Amazing, really, when USA has so many back.

FULL TIME Fucking amazing. US do just what they have to do to go through. Who fancies a Spain-USA liveblog (and a third place match against South Africa)?

Which liveblog do I choose?

The NY Kid said...

I cannot believe that he didn't start Freddy, Torres, or Califf. Bob Bradley is absolutely clueless.

Tuffy said...

I figured out how to show both games on split screen on my HDTV. Who wants to touch me?

(And did you know that Jamal Bradley still plays soccer for a living? I KNOW! Right?)

EbullientFatalist said...

Bradley in, Feilhaber not. I don't know if Bobby Bradley likes bringing Feilhaber on in the second half to up the intensity, but try starting him for a change.

EbullientFatalist said...

"Chased by Fathi"

Harkes inadvertently describes my college hook-up theme.

The NY Kid said...

@EF - please, we all know that you were the one doing the chasing

EbullientFatalist said...

Jesus. Keeping a team scoreless in the first ten minutes is considered a moral victory for the Americans. I weep.

I didn't have to chase fatties. They move slow enough, I could amble up to them.

EbullientFatalist said...

Odds on the feed cutting out, followed by awkward explanations by Dellacamera? 2-1? Even?

Tuffy said...

HA! The ball's loose in the box and half the players prefer to stop and demand a call from the ref instead of playing the damned thing. Love that.

The NY Kid said...

that was the worst pass in the history of sport by Donovan

Luton13 said...

wow we are actually attacking!!! too bad no one can score

EbullientFatalist said...

@NYK: That sequence was a microcosm of American soccer.

EbullientFatalist said...

Why is JP putting a French accent on "Guzan?" NYK?

Tuffy said...

So what's it like to be lectured on your defense by the second 'tender?

Luton13 said...

@ebullientfatalist i wish i had that french accent, im getting the sweet arab feed. the announcers shits his pants each shot taken by egypt. well sort of like donovan on that pass

Tuffy said...

Nice forward pass by Landycakes.

EbullientFatalist said...

Scrappy goal!!! Davies!!

Unknown said...

yay.

Tuffy said...

The US scored JUST as Rece Davis said it was scoreless on the other screen.

The NY Kid said...

GOLAZO!

RE: JP and his faux French accent - not sure, but it sucks.

Luton13 said...

goal from the run of play!!!! maybe bradley was keeping this team on the death row to show up for the 3rd match; in order to shock the world!

EbullientFatalist said...

Harkes calls it correctly: it WAS a lucky goal. Still, I'll take a lucky one-nil over a skilled nil-nil.

The NY Kid said...

that's really great hustle from Davies to stick with that. we need more of that

EbullientFatalist said...

@Robot: Yeah, Bradley is that brilliant.

As for Davies, he's scoring a goal every three games in Sweden for Hammarby. I'll take that for an America striker.

The NY Kid said...

how dare you almost call for the Haitian Sensation to come off at half!

Jacob said...

Screw you. He;s slow and rusty.

EbullientFatalist said...

Donovan flashed something promising there.

EbullientFatalist said...

@NYK: We both watch the same thing, and both had completely opposite reactions.

Luton13 said...

@nyk at least clowns bring excitement to people

Unknown said...

I'm not sure whether it's because of how absolutely poor the US has played this tournament, or because Donovan is actually playing well, but my negative opinion of him is slowly changing. Not sure how I feel about that.

EbullientFatalist said...

Dellacamera again with the weird "Guz-ehn" pronounciation. Stop that.

The NY Kid said...

Landon did well dancing through half the Egyptian defense, but he has to score there.

As a GK, to me it seemed clear what Landon was going to do - no creativity there. Plus, I hate Landycakes.

Unknown said...

I guess I should say or because Landon is the only one actually trying. Not sure he's really playing that well.

EbullientFatalist said...

We need to convert those set pieces.

This is turning out not to be the boring game I imagined.

The NY Kid said...

well, 1 thing I have always realized is that Landon does give a hell of an effort. He consistently works hard, but he should be much more dangerous than he is with his talent

Luton13 said...

decent body position there

@steve guzan is looking decent in goal. he actually made a save from outside of 20 yards

Unknown said...

agreed, NYK. I think it's mostly the fact that the rest of the US team has showed such a lack of effort that Donovan is standing out.

Tuffy said...

Pediatricians across the globe are passing on treating El Hadary.

Luton13 said...

awful touch by altiore preceding by dempsey almost giving it away

The NY Kid said...

wow - Harkes just ripped Dempsey big-time.

EbullientFatalist said...

I have a tinge of envy watching Egypt. They are the type of team the US should be, but aren't.

Jacob said...

EF-they have a great staff. That's part of the difference.

Luton13 said...

damnit altidore is lazy

Unknown said...

I'm stunned the half has almost gone by and no red card for us.

EbullientFatalist said...

@Robot: between Jozy and Dempsey we should have the speed and attacking technique to be dangerous on the counter, and yet we aren't.

Charlie Davies has impressed me today with his grit and persistence.

Frank said...

Onyewu's playing really well.

EbullientFatalist said...

Brazil up against Italy three-nil. Could we actually move to the semis?

Tuffy said...

COME ON YOU FLIPPIN' GOAL SCORERS

Luton13 said...

@fcobbina: i dont know every time onyewu touches the ball i get a bit smaller in the pants

Unknown said...

bradley, i hate you.

EbullientFatalist said...

Convert an opportunity, please.

Unknown said...

So, if we score 2 more goals, and everything else stays the same, we go through. Unbelievable.

Luton13 said...

wow after 45 minutes of semi-effort, i wonder if we anything left in the tank to put 2 more goals in

Jacob said...

G-We need a three goal swing still, I think, including two of our own. IIRC, Italy would still hold the tiebreak over US if both matches end up 3-0.

Jacob said...

S2N- Dempsey's problem is Bradley, I think. Bob has little idea how to utilize him best.

Unknown said...

@u75: Ah, forgive my confusion. I will go restudy the table and curse failing calculus again.

Bigus Dickus said...

Woahhh. Can I share your commenters mate?

Jacob said...

BD-Never underestimate national pride, even in a lost cause.

Unknown said...

Wait, went and re-did my calculus. If we score 2 more, we have the same goal differential as Italy, but we have more scored (the second deciding factor), so we are in. Egypt would finish bottom of group.

Right/wrong?

Unknown said...

..and BBC commentators just told me everything I puzzled out the hard way. Bastards. But, if you believe them, we only need the 2 if nothing else happens.

Luton13 said...

@g we still need the 2, if the mother comes down and grants me 3 wishes i still dont think we will get those 2

EbullientFatalist said...

There's your Bradley card.

Unknown said...

@Robot, ah but Americans are taught from birth to blindly wish for the stars, no?

No where's my beer?

Luton13 said...

@g i guess my american dream would be to actually field 11 players for a match

Unknown said...

ugh.

Tuffy said...

Screw it; Egypt's not welcome at Camp David anymore.

EbullientFatalist said...

My hand always plays the ball, Harkes.

Unknown said...

@Robot - Aim high. One day, my boy, one day.

Can't believe no handball on that.

Luton13 said...

again bradley complacent, who cares if a pk wasn't called, lets just look lost and yell at your players...what a chump

The NY Kid said...

dear baby Jesus, please do not the Jozy fail come back to haunt us

Precious Roy said...

We will never get the call ever.

Luton13 said...

can we get the ball past the invisible pyramid?

Precious Roy said...

By the way, watched the first halves at a bar that had the US Open audio going. Can't recommend it enough. No zuzvelas, no Harkes or Dellacamera.

EbullientFatalist said...

Our backline looks so good today.

Luton13 said...

@roy: ill trade you an arab feed

Precious Roy said...

Jozy... dammit. Get a head on that.

Unknown said...

@EF: Now if our front line could finish, it would be a hell of a game.

Unknown said...

good save by Guzan there on the shot, even though not required.

Unknown said...

opinions on Guzan? average? next great US keeper? too early to tell?

Precious Roy said...

Guzan: Better keeper than interview.

Unknown said...

woo hoo!

EbullientFatalist said...

There we are!! Bradley!!

Tuffy said...

Daddy's boy.

The NY Kid said...

GOLAZO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luton13 said...

GOAL!!!!!!!!
The Bradley's are going to sex it up tonight!!!!

Signal to Noise said...

well Bradley Junior isn't a gutless wonder like his daddy.

GOOOAAAAALLLL!

Precious Roy said...

$100 says we score. Then Rossi scores in the 90+ for Italy to fuck us yet again.

EbullientFatalist said...

I've been happy with Guzan's performance; doesn't inspire the same confidence as Howard does, but he's a good backup who fills the posts with some Prem experience.

Unknown said...

BBC screaming how we need one goal to do it, or Italy needs one. Love BBC. They pronounce controversy as 'con trah vah see'. I feel educated just listening.

Unknown said...

@PR - I bet the Jersey bastard does just that. I can feel the phantom pain already.

Unknown said...

PR, that's just maniacal enough to happen.

EbullientFatalist said...

The Benny Feilhaber Experience is about to begin . . .

Luton13 said...

we need an offensive sub BRADLEY!!!

Signal to Noise said...

it seems like now is the perfect time for Bradley Sr. to fuck this up with an ill-advised substitution (read: DMB for anyone on the pitch or anyone else save Dempsey going off.)

Precious Roy said...

Of course our reward for scoring would be to get absolutely dismantled by Spain.

Of note. It's a Mexican referree in the Italy match. Watch out for a shit PK for the Azzurri.

Unknown said...

uhhhhh

Signal to Noise said...

Yup, Feilhaber for Altidore falls directly in the cock-up category.

The NY Kid said...

2nd game in a row with the Above Average Jew on for the Haitian Sensation.

EbullientFatalist said...

Ummm.

Luton13 said...

failharder better be marginally better than altidore and actually put a foot on the ball

Precious Roy said...

Maybe Bradley is trying to get fired... anyone think of that?

Unknown said...

DEUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EbullientFatalist said...

THERE WE ARE!!!! DEMPSEY DEMPSEY DEMPSEY!!!!

Signal to Noise said...

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLL!

like I said, good call to not sub Deuce.

Also, GOLAZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

EbullientFatalist said...

OO-SHA, OO-SAH, OOO-SAH!!!!

Signal to Noise said...

Dempsey, I take back every shitty word I ever said about your play in a USMNT uni.

Precious Roy said...

Oh Brad... don't fuck this up.

Frank said...

And Bob Bradley looks like a genius!

Tuffy said...

Italy is actually trying in the other match. It's NOT. COOL.

The NY Kid said...

that was a fantastic header from Deuce

Unknown said...

sorry about the three posts. i'm just that excited.

/don't know how to use the internet.

Precious Roy said...

Shot by Pepe blocked at the last second... Fuck, I can't watch.

Luton13 said...

dude just keep attacking we need more, lets see some of that american greed right now!

EbullientFatalist said...

Egypt now pressing . . .

/HailMarys

Precious Roy said...

Really... Egypt is drained, hurt, and out of subs. Let's not go into a shell and give them chances.

EbullientFatalist said...

If we get a fourth, and Italy get one, the Eye-ties still go through, right?

Precious Roy said...

Think so. We're all level on GD right now. We're through on total goals.

EbullientFatalist said...

This is great. It reminds me of the last day in the Prem.

Andrew said...

This is torture right now - in the best possible way. C'mon, boys, keep attacking...

The NY Kid said...

@Robot - everyone realized that they could never live up to Meola's hair

EbullientFatalist said...

Conor Casey? Re-heh-heh-heally? I mean, I guess the last move worked.

Precious Roy said...

A) Can we get even the most marginal of whistle's not go against us?

B) Connon fucking Casey? We're done.

Spectator said...

Unreal... I go run errands, come home and the USMNT is ten minutes away from qualifying for the knockout rounds. C'mon boys!!!!! All is forgiven Bob Bradley (LOLZ).

The NY Kid said...

Conor Casey looks like a serial killer

Precious Roy said...

Kaka almost gave just a little more room.

Precious Roy said...

C'mon Spectator, don't get carried away. Bradley still sucks.

Unknown said...

@EF: No, If we each get one more we have a 5 and they have 4. Still us going through.

Need a beer, this stress is killing me.

EbullientFatalist said...

Up the Yanks!!

Unknown said...

Casey already doing fine.

Luton13 said...

@nyk maybe he bring some his murderous abilities and put a knife in the pharaohs heart

Spectator said...

@PR: Hence the "LOLZ"! This really is a totally unexpected situation. Any way we can get the clocks to go faster??

EbullientFatalist said...

Yeah, I'm currently drinking an Imperial. It's Costa Rican. Not sure if that could be a jinx.

Tuffy said...

The US feed is shaky? Really? Who saw that coming?

Unknown said...

BBC guy yelling about Casey needs to do better and keep possession. Even the Brits hate your subs Bradley.

Luton13 said...

@tuffy www.iraqgoals.net but you have to listen to arabic

Tuffy said...

KNOCK IT OFF ITALY

EbullientFatalist said...

Onyewu is playing the game of his life.

Luton13 said...

@green eggs: if rossi scores, i am going to make it my personal goal to do nothing but shame new jersey for the rest of my life

EbullientFatalist said...

There goes the Italy game. Hang on, Yanks, hang on.

Precious Roy said...

And a Scouser almost does us in... And that's it in Pretoria. Holy crap.

Signal to Noise said...

ok, boys. Brazil held up their end...

Tuffy said...

And now 87 minutes of stoppage time in the US/Egypt game.

Unknown said...

@Robot: As someone from Jersey can say, your new life goal isn't terribly hard.

Spectator said...

C'MON USA HOLD ON!!!!

EbullientFatalist said...

Whats the injury time?

Luton13 said...

how much extra time!!!!

Unknown said...

Stop panicking and play like you were.

EbullientFatalist said...

Good play Landon.

Spectator said...

Our defense looks exhausted. C'mon USA hold on puhleaze!!!

Bigus Dickus said...

So this is where its happening. Well I am here so that means the other game is over. Finished 3 nil Brazil. Camon USA.

Tuffy said...

3 min actual stoppage time.

Andrew said...

These games have been HORRIBLE about telling the viewers how much extra time is left - three minutes? three hours? Who knows?

Spectator said...

1 more minute!!!!

oyeoro said...

WOW, you guys have kept working on a excel spreadsheet in the office interesting for the last 2 hours. Lets Go USA

EbullientFatalist said...

Thirty seconds . . .

EbullientFatalist said...

THERE WE ARE!!!

Luton13 said...

ADVANCE!!!!!

Unknown said...

hoooray

Bigus Dickus said...

Holy crap. Thats all.

Signal to Noise said...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

U-S-A! U-S-A!

Tuffy said...

The Cheshire Cat now has to call his smile the Bob Bradley Grin.

Spectator said...

PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN, WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I'M FREE!!!!

EbullientFatalist said...

This is unexpected, yet so wonderful. We scored the ways we should: through scrappy play and persistent build-ups. What did Bradley say to them?

Spectator said...

So I guess the trick for the US is to play with no pressure whatsoever.

Unknown said...

I'm passed out drunk on my couch and this is all a dream, right?

So, stuck with Bradley now for World Cup. Yes/no?

Goat said...

Hey all. Clearly the US deserves to advance and Bob Bradley is a genius. Ditto fcobbina.

EbullientFatalist said...

Is there any hope against Spain? Regardless, yay!

Unknown said...

@Spectator: Or play with a full side?

Precious Roy said...

Remember, we played pretty well in Santader last summer on the eve of the Euro.

So I don't like our chances, but we could make a competitive game. Yes, I'm delusional.

Goat said...

Spectator--I firmly believe that Lee Greenwood orchestrated 9/11 to boost his career.

EbullientFatalist said...

Ooo-Sah to end Spain's unbeaten streak?

Jacob said...

That was fun. Glad it worked out. Did I miss one, or did Bradley only use two subs? Not even a time killer at the end? Fire him.

Precious Roy said...

I want...

Spectator said...

Here's the laughing. The also deemed Dempsey's goal too unimportant to show.

honestly after their collective display earlier in the week i was furious. however, just when i think i'm out THEY PULL ME BACK IN!!! i still think we need to hire a european/south american coach to change our style and team culture but hats off to the lads for the heart they showed today. i thought egypt was going to paste us and when brazil went 3 up i was in a state of delirium that was only intesified when deuce stuck in. but bradley still needs to go, although i thought it was real cool his kid scored a goal for him on fathers day.

Well, overall, a fun result, but the same shit still on display. Bradley's shoddy tactics and shocking subs overshadowed by poor central defense and keeper play on the part of Egypt. More careless tackling and needless cards. Still massive holes in the midfield and the central defense is very spotty. Ives has already crawfished, but this win doesn't make me feel any better about this team. So they can exploit a bad, tired squad. BFD.

At least make Spain work for it before rolling over, instead of giving up the cookie right off the bat.
