Kaka to Real Madrid for €65m (£56m)

j/k!!!!

Cue the Galácticos theme music.

Real Madrid wanted Kaka, AC Milan wanted the cash, and Kaka wanted to be wanted. You can't put this one much better than the man himself:
The soap opera is over. The negotiations are closed. I have sealed my transfer to Madrid.

David Beckham, no stranger to having to make big decisions on transfers, advised Kaka that this was a good move to further his career. And AC Milan released a very nice statement that Kaka's "loss on the field, though serious, can be filled. It will, however, be very difficult to fill the void left by Kaka the man."

For those of you keeping track at home, this is the second highest transfer fee paid behind the €76m for Zidane. Now the question is where does Real Madrid go next? Crissy Ronaldo? Ribery? David Villa? All of the above?

i though zidane went for like 46 mil? no?

@GL: 46m pounds, but 76m euro. Kaka's transfer is actually more than Zidane's when you convert to pounds, but that's just owing to the weak U.K. economy.

All of the above. We will see Real play a 4-2-3-1 with the "3" consisting of Ronaldo-Kaka-Ribery, and Villa/Raul up front. Devastating.

ah, gotcha. silly exchange rates.

I want them to sign all these guys, and then utterly disappoint the world with their high priced team still looking up at Barca in the standings. Just another reason to dislike Madrid

I wonder where Guti, Robben, Sneijder and van der Vaart fit into the nu Real Madrid?

Robben and Van der Vaart are both going to sod off to Inter

God I hope Milan turn into a mid table team for a long time.

NYKid - I don't buy that Robben to Inter story. I seem to remember Mourinho and Robben not getting on too well. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Robben's constant injuries - I don't see Mourinho making that mistake again.

he'll be gone as will Van der Vaart, Sneijder apparently and where's Ruud in all this? I like Ruud - despite the Man U link. They'll probably try to use Van der Vaart and Sneijder as make-weights in a deal for Ribery especially. I don't see Ruud returning to the EPL, so maybe Meelan's interested (although I not so secretly want them to take Adebayor for a healthy profit for us to spend)

When Eto'o leaves Barca, and Zlatan fills the void (shittily I might add, o-ver-ra-ted), Ruud will fit in nicely with Inter.

Latest transfer talk for Ruud--his price is 1.25M pounds and his main suitors are Tottenham and Fulham.

Grain of salt, etc.

Whizalen said...

I say that 1.25M rumour too. Expect Man City to sign him next week for 15M

I said that in jest, but upon reflection, Ruud to city might be a pretty enticing offer.

Ruud up front with a nurtured-like-a-baby Jo (which must have been what Moyes did to him at Everton) with Robinho and Stephen Ireland running around them.

Throw in Petrov or Elano (who probably won't be there anyway) and that can be a very scary line-up if they're all firing. Of course, with five forwards, that midfield could become just a tad bit stretched

Scanning the man city first team squad, they list NINE forwards. Of course three of them are the aforementioned Bellamy, Darius Vassel (wowzers) and Benjani. So they don't really count.

There HAS to be more interest out there for Ruud than Spurs though. Surely one of the European-bound teams in Holland or Germany could use him.
