Wednesday Backpasses: Point and laugh

Freddy Adu may be bored to tears in South Africa, but at least he's not on the Mexican National Team, right?

Goal 3 looks worse than Manos: Hands of Fate [The Beautiful Game]
Offside's season-end Power Rankings [The Offside]
The Fellaini-Rooney courtship is dead [Avoiding The Drop]

Interview with that bastard, Giuseppe Rossi [NY Times]
Notts County to get Middle Eastern money? (must take offense--Notts County are not the oldest club in England) [SoccerLens]
Bloggers bitching at each other over death. Fun times! [Pies]

Finally:
Another look at Setanta and what it means in North America [The 24th Minute]
Which leads me to this link, sent by WhiteSpeedReceiver, saying that multiple SPL squads may go into bankruptcy because of Setanta failing to pay.

Which leads me to the following editorial:
Fuck 'em. As I detailed previously, there was a counter off from Sky, with less money up front, that was rejected by nine of 12 SPL clubs. That the clubs who got greedy and took immediate payoff over channel stability are the ones in the worst trouble should not be forgotten in this mess. They had a lucrative way off of Setanta and did not take it. No tears from me on that.

Of course, it's 2-1 now, but Mexico still sucks, okay?

The giveaway for TNT's first half equalizer was priceless.

At the rate clubs are entering into financial trouble, the idea of an Atlantic League may come back into existence. Who doesn't want to see Hibernian -v- Heerenveen battle for that last Europa League spot? European football: where "meh" happens

So Fellaini is guaranteed to be playing for United in two years time right?

@ MG: That would be awesome. I never want this story to die, frankly.
