Wales? Do they have a team?

Wales and Scotland are apparently going to bid for the 2016 European Championships. 2016 will be the first year that the tournament features 24 teams, making it difficult for any small nation to host the finals alone. Alright, Wales and Scotland. The Millennium Stadium, Hampden Park, Ibrox, Ninian Park (maybe not, have you seen that place?). There is only one problem. Wales won't be able to use their free entry into the competition as a host. Because according to EA sports, they don't exist!

Welshmen who have been playing FIFA 09, the top-selling EA sports video game, are not happy at all. Wales doesn't have a team! Well you can just imagine the fuss on the other side of the Severn bridge.

An online petition has been created and the EA message boards are rich with Welsh displeasure.

EA it's pathetic you add all the home nations but no wales sort it out
- Welsh Not British, EA message board.

Absolutely disgraceful, as for others dissin Wales, get a life. Maybe we haven't qualified recently, but that doesn't stop us supporting our country. All we want is for our countries national football team to be included.
- PlayerScoggs, EA Message board.

Many taffies are requesting that EA create a patch for the game that users can download to add the Welsh team. EA sports is refusing to comment on the matter.

To add insult to injury, Wales crooning icon and footy fan Tom Jones features on the FIFA 09 soundtrack and so does Welsh songstress Duffy. Jones' song 'Feels like music' was selected by EA for the latest release of the popular game. Maybe 'Green green grass of home', 'Ain't no love', 'The boy from nowhere' or 'Cry for home' would be more appropriate.

They may have no recognition with EA sports but no one will forget Wales, not as long as the excellent Gavin and Stacey is on anyway.

And that gives me a great excuse to share this clip (partially football related) to cheer up your Sunday afternoon.

Enjoy.

In all fairness, Gareth Bale is playing like he doesn't exist. So it's just a short jump from there...

"Look at him. He runs like a Welshman. Doesn't he run like a Welshman? Doesn't he? I think he runs like a Welshman."
