UF Quick Throw: Adebayor to Citeh almost confirmed!

Arsenal have accepted a 25m pound offer from Citeh for their sulky, lanky Togolese striker. How many pre-pubescent French starlets will that buy?

Personal terms for Emmanuel are believed to be around 150,000-175,000 pounds a week, proving the adage "more money than sense." They now have a striking corps of Bellamy, Adebayor, Tevez, Santa Cruz, and Robinho. Good luck keeping everyone in check! Or maybe they're bringing back the 2-3-5 formation?

Kevin Keegan approves.

wow, i totally did not think this was going to go through after they landed tevez. who sits between Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Tevez and Robinho? Although, Robinho can play winger, but then what about Wright Phillips, Elano, etc?

It's the English Real Madrid without the history.

This is great. Phenomenal, even. Now, Arsene, use those transfer funds to strengthen/deepen the squad. Matuidi, Chamakh, and perhaps some more cover in the midfield.

If we don't grab Chamakh now, I'll eat my hat.

Can't say I'm disappointed. Hopefully Bendtner can keep his pants up and RvP's devotion to clean living will keep him relatively healthy. With the little Russian fellow playing a full season and some of the youngsters stepping up to play their roles (I'm looking at you, Vela) I don't think finding goals will be a huge problem.

I agree with all you guys - no big loss to Arsenal - a healthy RvP is worth 2 Adebayor's, in my opinion.

If City don't play the 1-1-8, they will really only have one "unhappy" striker of the 3 - Adebayor, Tevez, and RSC. Robinho will play on the left + Bellamy will probably move elsewhere.

If they pick up John Terry, do they squeeze into 4th?

How dumb is ManArabia, or more specifically, Mark Hughes? 25m for Ade? Really? REALLY?

EbullientFatalist said...

Ibra: With Terry? I'd see them in fourth, with Chelsea out. That's a big blow to handle.

Huh... I guess this will inject some cash into the summer for Arsenal, I would have preferred that he leave for a Serie A team.

Ade won't be able to hurt us in the Champions League (this season) but he might help knock us out of the top 4 next year.

And so who exactly fills his shoes?!? Certainly not Niklas, he has the height but no touch or finish. I would have to trust NYKid that Chamakh is worth a crap.

I wonder if Huntelaar could be swiped from Stuttgart at the last minute?

The NY Kid said...

Chamakh had 13 goals and 6 assists in 34 matches for Ligue 1 champions Bordeaux, while being paired up top with Cavenaghi (13 goals) and having to concede goal-scoring opportunities to Les Bleus golden child Gourcuff (12 goals).

Really, if I'm Santa Cruz aren't I already making noise for an exit from Citeh.

My only regret about Adebayor leaving is that it wasn't a year earlier and that it wasn't to Italy.

Okay, that's two regrets.

Even as a West Ham supporter, I am always intrigued with Arsene's transfers. He will find some unknown, everyone will question/deride him, and then this unknown player will become a star/be sold down the road for 20m.

Don't forget about Eduardo up front. I'll take the front line of RvP & Eduardo, the drunk Dane and Vela coming off the bench, plus 1 more signing. With Arshavin and Walcott coming in from the wings. Maybe even a chance Rosicky will be back?

Okay, that's pushing it.

Precious Roy said...

Oh right, Rosicky. How could I possibly forget someone who hasn't played in 2 years.

But I actually think we need two bulldog-like midfielders because one of them is invariably going to get hurt.

What the hell is a 'healthy RvP'?

EbullientFatalist said...

It's like a 'healthy Eduardo' or 'healthy Rosicky' but with more niggling injuries.

BackBergtt said...

Why not bring Diarra back?

EbullientFatalist said...

Diarra had some unkind words re: Wenger. Not false, but unkind.

BackBergtt said...

Perhaps Wenger can lend him a cup of love.

"Huntelaar close to completing move to Stuttgart"

What the fuck?
