Scotland were in action today, taking on Norway at Hampden Park. The game finished 0-0 but that doesn't mean there is nothing to see here!. Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Chris Iwelumo came on in the second half and took the saying 'missed a sitter' to a whole new level.
I'll set the scene: it's nil-nil. Iwelumo strips off his tracky bottoms and takes to the field with 30 minutes to go. Shortly afterwards, Gary Naysmith bursts into the box and slides a teasing ball across the empty goal mouth. Waiting to prod home the easiest goal in history was Iwelumo. OOPS. how many black players have played for the scotland national team? i cant believe its more than five.
So if I tell you it's six, you won't believe me?
Iwelumo looks surprised he just shot his load that far.
Georger. It's 4 I believe. Kevin Harper was number 3 in 2003.
Scottish people prefer gingers.
i remember one of my first experiences of the game was seeing paul ince and i was flabbergasted at the idea of a black englishman
african american englishman that is
"african american englishman"
I think you just asploded my brain
Wow...What about John Barnes, Viv Anderson and Cyril Regis?
Nice one Cyril, nice one son.
Nice one Cyril, lets have another one!
well im a young lad and didnt start watching the game until the early nineties and thats the first one i remember.
When I saw Iwulemo skin that one wide of the post, I nearly cried.
I'd argue that it was harder to miss than to actually score, given that he is supposed to be a striker, an in form one at that, even if he does play in the Colaship for Wolves.
It reminds me of the bad old days under Berti Vogts when we couldnt buy a goal.
He's not a graceful chap either, the poor soul.
King Garry: Scroll down to the open thread and there's a link to the goal (or missed goal) in the comments. In slow mo you can see the ball take a bit of a freak high bounce so that it comes off Iwelumo's upper leg or knee.
Still he should have buried it, but there is a bit of a mitigating factor.
Never mind. I'm completely wrong. He got it with his left foot. The front angle looks a little deceptive. From behind it was clear failure.
And by "left" I mean "right." I'll stop. He should have buried it.
first the scots allow catholics on the team. and now blacks? It's almost as it they want to qualify for the world cup.
