Saturday Bootroom: The rushed version

Well, it's the last weekend of the season in most of the leagues we care about. Get in here now to discuss the last day of the Bundesliga, various playoffs and Serie B.

In Germany, three teams still have a shot. Since Wolfsburg are jinxed (see last night's Backpasses), Stuttgart and Bayern still have a shot. All Wolfsburg need is a point to win league.

In France, Bordeaux need to avoid a loss to Monaco to win Ligue 1. If Bordeaux do in fact lose, then Marseille can win the title by defeating AS Nancy. Oops. One more round to go.

Selected games (all times EDT)

9.30
Bundesliga
Bayern-Stuttgart
Wolfsburg-Werder Bremen

10.00
League Two Playoff
Gillingham-Shrewsbury Town

Scottish Div Two Playoff
Stenhousemuir-Cowdenbeath

3.00
France Ligue 1
AS Nancy-Marseille
Bordeaux-AS Monaco

If all of that is not fun enough, LB may have a MLS liveblog later.

Wolfsburg already up 1-0.

And like that, it's probably over in Germany. Wolfsburg up 2-0.

3-0 Wolfies. OG from Prodl. I'm switching to PLayoff final. Come on Shrewsbury! Do it for Derek Smalls

Werder pull one back. Bayern lead Mad Jens and crew 1-0. Hoffenheim are worthless, but Ibisevic is back training. Maybe next year.

From Sky Sports News: Odds to stay up in EPL tomorrow
Sunderland 1/20
Hull 1/2
Newcastle 6/4
Boro 14/1

Get your bets in.

Shrewsbury looking best in the first 9 minutes. No breakthrough as of yet.

Wolfsburg are halfway to the title. 3-1.
Schalke lead Hoffenheim 2-1.
Bottom Karlsruhe lead Hertha 2-0. Too little too late, though. They are already relegated. Hertha, however, are fighting for a CL spot.

Cottbus have been given a relegation lifeline. They need a win and a Monchengladbach loss. BM is 0-0 at HT. But Cottbus (0-0 HT) will face a 10 man Leverkusen in the 2nd half. Late red card to Vidal for Leverkusen

Actually, it's not that easy for Cottbus. They need a large swing in GD as well (7). They're still going down.

Still no great chance in the League Two playoff. Gillingham are starting to get forward more. Pretty even at this point.

0-0 HT at Wembley. Wolvies put a fourth in.

Little bit of a dustup in the center circle. A couple of yellows, but nothing more.

Oh, and Wolfsburg are celebrating, undoubtedly. 5-1, no more than five minutes left.

61st at Wembley. Looks like my falafels will be delayed because this is going to extra time.

Shrewsbury blow it on a free header from the six. Gillingham have had the best chance so far, but nothing is working for these teams.

May as well announce this where no one is reading. If I can get up (and that's a big "if") at 8 tomorrow, I will be liveblogging the SPL's last day. Yay? Champion and Euro spot up for grabs. Come watch me cry.

Tired legs in the playoff finals. Eight minutes plus stoppage to go.

On the stroke of 90, Gillingham force one in off of an undeserved corner. It was an open header from the six that beat the man on the back post who had strayed from his position. Congrats to the horsey badges.

And Borussia Monchengladbach stay up with the 1-1 draw. Wonder if Bradley will stay in Germany next year.

Jacob said...

Simeon Jackson your goal scorer.

Jacob said...

I think so, J. Better than the Eredivisie for him, I think, in the long term.

Jacob said...

Ball game. Gillingham up.

I agree with that. I remember something about interest from an English team. Everton maybe? I may be making that up though.

Jacob said...

Maybe, I don't remember. May have been wishful thinking.

Scotland playoff going to extra time. 0-0. Even I don't care (much).

Stenhousemuir 0-0 Cowdenbeath over two legs. SFC win 5-4 on penalties.

I'll have to wait until Monday to watch some of these games, but congratulations to:
Gillingham
Wolfsburg (nice way to close it out)
Borussia Monchengladbach (Bradley to stay next year?)
Bordeaux (not over yet, but I like where they are)
Whoever survived in the SPL.

Now, on to the fun times tomorrow - relegation Hell!! I'm tipping the Alan Shearer Experience to pull out a tie while the United kiddies rip Hull's heart out. Not what I'd probably prefer, but my most likely scenario...

Watching the Gillingham-Shrewsbury game...

WBA has a definite keeper in Luke Daniels. Incredible shot-stopper. Not sure if he needs to work on his positioning and distribution, but he seems solid in the first, and not bad in the second...probably just needs a little more seasoning...

Simeon Jackson has his eyes on a bigger move up the pyramid, but I'm not certain he's up to it (not to say he can't). He's better than the players around him, but he can be neutralized right now...then again, maybe he's a guy who needs to be "challenged"...

wow, that was a bullshit corner, but he hit it cleanly aimed at the post...nice finish...

It was a very nice finish, considering.
