EPL Open Thread: Abigail Clancy's Half-Wonder Woman Costume

I managed to climb out of bed this morning on the west coast after a long Halloween night to discover that most of the games are late today. Hallelujah!! (Or Halloweenja?). My wife and I went out as Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse and lived up to their reputations. Abigail Clancy, she showed up as half of Wonder Woman (the bottom half) and Eve (the top half). How lucky are we?

Anyway, lots of action today so enjoy the hangover and some footie. Feel free to play in the comment sandbox below.

the good: halloween party with free beer

the bad: drinking it as fast as humanly possible to get as much as i could before it ran out

the ugly: having to sit on a student panel this morning for the law school's open house. i expect application numbers to plummet like my bank account balance at around three this morning

somehow the pool game is at one thirty so at least ill be able to see it. if it werent for OYB listing the game times in eastern standard id never figure out the times what with the different daylight savings laws

taking in the last ten of the fulham v stupid fucking everton game. howard is rocking the baseball hat look, that is always so awkward looking. making it worse is the fact that he just booted a backpass for a corner, brilliant.

Mike Georger said...

FUCK

saha scores in the 87th to keep everton from having the worst home record in all four divisions of england

dempsey on now to try and salvage a point. he can do it!

phil said...

Until Saha scored, that Everton-Fulham match was good choice for insomniacs who don't respond to strong medication.

Mike Georger said...

yeah it appeared i turned it on at just the right time. perfect cross and header though, as much as i dont like to give them any credit. not the best defense.

phil said...

I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of that during the Spurs-Reds match. Rafa's going to swing as many crosses as he can at Fumbelina Gomes. If we can manage a draw, I'll be pleased.

The Fan's Attic said...

howard was my keeper on two of my fantasy teams...so yay!

Mike Georger said...

im feeling a high scoring game today phil. at least six goals total.

that being said, itll finish 0-0, no question

phil said...

I would love to see that kind of production out of Spurs, but I don't think Pool will give our midfielders the kind of space Chelsea and Arsenal did. I think we'll see a full 90 from Pavlyohwhatsit, though, since he's cup-tied and won't play next week, so maybe he can get on a couple. 0-0's fine by me, though.

Mike Georger said...

like a blind keeper at an orgy, tim howard was going to have to feel his way around

phil said...

Hmmm. Live footy has just taken a giant shit. The search for a viable feed has begun.

I might be forced down to the pub, where I will be the lone Spur in the midst of the kop.

Mike Georger said...

myp2p h'yah

phil said...

Georger, you're a lifesaver.

The Fan's Attic said...

ronaldo...3'.

Mike Georger said...

fuck

tevez dropped again. i pray to god he leaves for madrid or something, i think he is their best natural striker and would be sorely missed.

Mike Georger said...

"1513: GOAL Stoke 1-0 Arsenal"

ruh. roh.

JT said...

Delap long throw to Ricardo Fuller, again, for the 1,366,802nd time this season. Unbelievable. They should outlaw long throws

phil said...

Malbranque with lays boots to Terry. Terry puts on a great show for the fans until he realizes no card is forthcoming. Wanker.

phil said...

Georger, according to Wenger, no one actually scores on gooners, they grant goals to the other side, so really it's Arsenal 1-0 Arsenal.

Mike Georger said...

give him the boots .... medium style

hull hit one back. they dont die, they multiply.

phil said...

Alex on 27' off a nifty little maneuver by Joe Cole. Chelsea 1-0 Sunderland

phil said...

Le Sulk redirects one home, looked offside, but Chavski gets the benefit (shocking, I know). Chelsea 2-0 Sunderland.

Pascal Chimbonda nevr marked a man for Spurs, and he's not about to start doing it at Sunderland.

Mike Georger said...

wow id forgotten all about carrick. good move for his career
*thumbs down*

phil said...

Spurs still miss Carrick. Haven't been the same since he and Davids are gone.

Mike Georger said...

you dont need midfielders who can play defense

sincerely,
arsene wenger

phil said...

Ashley Cole off on 35' with a calf problem. I imagine the Sunderland players are quite relieved, seeing as the threat of a broken leg from a horror tackle is significantly lessened.

phil said...

LMAO. Well played, Georger.

phil said...

Bosingwa has a Bert from Sesame Street-esque unibrow going. Ye gods.

phil said...

Le Sulk now with a brace. Chelsea 3-0 Sunderland on 45 + 1.

The NY Kid said...

Rory Delap is on steroids.

The Fan's Attic said...

anybody have a link for the arsenal match?

phil said...

Fan's Attic, check out Georger's p2p link up in the thread. The links to all the matches are there.

phil said...

Roy Keane doesn't come out for the second half, and FSC is speculating that he's been sent off.

Adam said...

I need a new squad, I'm tired of waking up to see Arsenal 1-0 down to some shit team. Seriously, how are you not able to get a ball in past arguably the worst squad in the League???

phil said...

Lampard on 50'. Chelsea 4-0 Sunderland. Really putting some pressure on Liverpool...

ü75 said...

Fuck me. More chelsea scoring. Who is this one=off Gordon replacement?

phil said...

Le Sulk with a hat trick. Chelsea 5-0 Sunderland.

phil said...

Fulop is in for Gordon, same as last week, and he's been horrid today, just horrid.

ü75 said...

Updates from Scotland

Rangers score 5 first half goals on Inverness CT 5-0.
Sone Aluko scores early in the second for Aberdeen over Killie. 1-0.
Motherwell leading the increasingly outclassed Hamilton 1-0. Two other games are nil draws at this point.

Some interesting matchups in the Scottish Cup as well. The one that caught my eye is Annan Athletic-Spartans--i.e. the new SFL team versus the team that many thought would take the place. Currently, Spartans are getting slight revenge with a 2-1 lead over their southern opponents. Of course, they are still stuck in East of Scotland League whether they beat up on Annan or not.

Norwich down at Burnley.

ü75 said...

Eagles just put in another for Burnley. Bigus just broke something, I bet.

ü75 said...

Motherwell score again on Hamilton. St mirren may yet have competition for the relegation spot.

Adam said...

and its 2-0 to Stoke, and Van Persie just got sent off. We are awesome!

phil said...

Geovanni from the spot to cut it to 3-4 with 10' to go! The end of the ManU-Hull match is becoming very interesting...

ü75 said...

Hull on the comeback trail. 4-3 now.

phil said...

ManU has completely lost their composure. Yellows for Tevez and Rooney in the past 3 minutes

ü75 said...

SPL finals:
Motherwell 2-0 Hamilton
Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock
Falkirk 0-0 Dundee United
Rangers 5-0 Inverness CT
St Mirren 0-0 Hibs

ü75 said...

Blackburn claw back to 2-2.

Adam said...

Goal Arsenal, sadly its probably too little too late.

phil said...

ManU 4-3 Hull, full time. The last 20 minutes were just fantastic.

ü75 said...

Walcott stretchered off. Arsenal finish on 9 men.

ü75 said...

Arsenal get a goal.

ü75 said...

Oddly enough, it's Clichy.

phil said...

Heskey steals a win for Wigan on 90'+ 2'.

The NY Kid said...

FACK!

phil said...

McCarthy wins the "goalscorer who gets sent off award."

The NY Kid said...

so, Phil, you've been reading the Ligue 1 review?

phil said...

Yeah, NY. I don't know much about French soccer, though, to be totally honest.

phil said...

Sparkling defense by fucking BAE there. Feckin' Spurs.

Mike Georger said...

wow i missed

phil said...

BAE couldn't be bothered to get off his dead feckin' ass and mark Kyut, Georger. Easy pickings for Reds.

phil said...

Liverpool look content to lay back 9 and play for the points. I don't see Spurs breaking through.

phil said...

Carragher equalizes for Spurs with an OG! 1-1 on 68'!

Mike Georger said...

my stream is running behind the bbc text updates.this is absurd

phil said...

Feckin' daft, Ledley. What are you doing?

Lennon on for Modric. Kind of a headscratching sub there...

phil said...

Benayoun on Riera

Andrew said...

Shit result, Arsenal. Shit result. I blame myself for their performance; my costume last night was me in a RVP jersey, a pair of crutches, and a bandaged foot.

No one got it.

I'm switching to the Florida-Georgia game. Go Gators.

Mike Georger said...

ugh this team misses torres so badly.
what a pissed away opportunity

phil said...

PAVLYOHWHATSIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike Georger said...

time to dust it off... fire rafa

ü75 said...

TLL is king of UF this week.

Andrew said...

Wow. Spurs. Really? REALLY?!

I'd like to thank Liverfourth for allowing Arsenthird to remain in the hunt.

Mike Georger said...

the loss had to come sometime i guess. start great, then get sloppy the last half hour. fucking opposite day apparently.

just a horrible horrible effort. good for spurs. and for chelsea and united, who will break clear after pool draws against brom and blackburn in their next two games

phil said...

What a second half from Spurs! COYS

Mike Georger said...

goddamnit does chelsea really have a 23 goal differential? thats video game shit right there, unbelievable

JT said...

Yep. Also, just bc we lost today doesn't mean Arsenal have any more chance. They lost to Stoke

JT said...

Also, this is less about LFC losing and more about Spurs. A week ago, they couldn't win to save their lives. Ramos leaves, and they take 7 points in a week, including that game on Wednesday.

They're finally playing like they were supposed to all season!

Mike Georger said...

so the question begs, just how fucking horrible of a leader was ramos?

Andrew said...

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty surprised Pool's loss didn't come before this game. Too many Kuyt goals off the bar for me to have full confidence in them.

Fucking Chelsea are on a mission, unfortunately.

Gunners will be third again. If that.

Mike Georger said...

"Too many Kuyt goals off the bar for me to have full confidence in them"

you lose to fulham stoke and hull

this doesnt change the fact that arsenal just might not be that good

Andrew said...

I liked the old Spurs better.

JT said...

Seriously Andrew, that's a bit ridiculous.

Gunners will be UEFA Cup-bound with listless, awful, dire, spiritless performances like that one today.

Mike Georger said...

lose = lost

lfc is calling it an 'undeserved win'. thats bullshit. spurs absolutely pantsed the last thirty minutes of that game, the deserved the three points as much as pool did after the first half.

gutsy last third for spurs and cowardly for pool

Andrew said...

Oh, Georger. I'm fully aware of our youngsters inability to win against "shit" teams. I can barely win with them in FIFA 09.

phil said...

When Ramos slotted Bentley in at RB in the 58th minute of, IIRC, the Pompey match, I knew everything I needed to know about him.

This last week has been...amazing. I think I'm floating, though that could be the effect of several Oberons.

Mike Georger said...

i just fail to see how liverpool winning a few games late without their best goalscorer is less inspiring than losing to bad teams like stoke and fulham.

long season obviously but arsenal have a bit more to worry about before they worry about getting to third

Mike Georger said...

i think arsenals trouble can be put solely on the smartass decision to bring back those hideous yellow and blue kits. discuss.

phil said...

Georger, to be fair, Reds owned us in the first half, and had Gerrard's lightning bolt not gone of the bar in the second half, Pavlyohwhatsits' chip would have only been the equalizer. Spurs played a solid second half, but it's entirely understandable that Reds think they should have come away with the win.

Mike Georger said...

"it's entirely understandable that Reds think they should have come away with the win"

oh it is. im just saying its not like spurs just completely lucked out and got two flukey goals that were against the run of play. neither goal was against it and the own goal wasnt even that flukey, it was created by pressure. it wasnt riise or titus bad or anything.

Andrew said...

I'm not saying I haven't been impressed with Liverpool. Even with Chelsea banging out 5-nil wins, I've thought Pool to be the class of the league so far. All I was saying is that I'm surprised they would be undefeated going into November.

As for Arsenal, we have problems. The Frenchman's decision in allowing Flamini and Gilberto to leave is inexcusable. I'm just hoping we hold on until the January transfer window. Even then, I'm not sure we can land the required holding mid.

phil said...

"Titus bad." Haha. Bramble gets his own category of OG's. Hilarious.

Mike Georger said...

make a run at de la red or senna.

i get what youre saying, im just frustrated (you know the feeling)

frankly it is incredible they hadnt lost considering some of the performances and not having torres, im just pissed at HOW they lost.

Andrew said...

And yeah, the yellow/blue/red aways are not a good look. I'm comfortable blaming our performances on those kits.

Mike Georger said...

everyone will feel better after watch this titus compilation

if theres anything funnier than a titus own goal, its a titus own goal against kirkland with a baseball hat on

Andrew said...

If we could get Senna, I'd be joyous. He would, how do you say Georger, "make the nut."

ü75 said...

I think you might want to stay away from De La Red. Sneaking suspicion he may not play again. At least not if he sees a non-partisan doctor.

Mike Georger said...

oh man this is verbatim from senna's wikipedia page "he has been linked with Arsenal FC where he is expected to sign in the January window and will form a superb partnership with Fabregas"

that guarantees he aint going anywhere. granted hes a bit old.

what happened to de la red? he lose a leg fighting franco's army or something?

my midfield for bayern in fifa consists of v.bommel, diarra, and de la red. formidable.

Andrew said...

Georger, I just added that quote.

Mike Georger said...

nice work.

so i just noticed that my google search bar has the words 'non nude webcams' in it. im assuming its been there since i came home last night. i think thats a new level of drunk for me, where i want to see chicks, but just not naked.

Andrew said...

Senna is too old. I'd like to think we'd renew the pursuit of Barry, but will Arsene let go of 20mil for him? Hell, his price may be even higher given his current form.

Mike Georger said...

barry said he wants to play champions league football, why would he leave villa for arsenal?

/ works the body
// stick and move, stick and move

Andrew said...

Is anyone watching the Florida-Georgia game? If Gunners and Gators both lose today, I'll go to bed at 7pm.

Andrew said...

HA!

First smile on my face today, courtesy of Mike Georger.

Mike Georger said...

wow, ruben had a literally brain fart it appears. thats a shame.

Mike Georger said...

literally = literal

my command of the english language today has just been awe inspiring

jape said...

So it took the horror show @ B'ham last year for Wenger's house of cards to crumble. This year it may just be that crash and burn at the Grove v. Sc*m. Two years ago I recall we dropped out've all three trophy chases in the span of 7 days or so. Man, the Gunners flame out quick. Meanwhile, Chelsea just destroy teams they are supposed to beat. Third sounds kind've nice right about now.

Andrew said...

I looked at Tim Tebow just now and for a flash forgot about losing to Stoke. The powers of that man-child are beyond this Earth.

Mike Georger said...

armanti edwards thinks tebow's mother sucks satan's cock in hell

Andrew said...

@jape: even our first win of the season was a squeaker against West Brom. It portended things to come.

We need strength in the midfield. We're gun-shy in a way United, Chelsea, Pool, even Villa, never are.

phil said...

The best thing about that Bramble compilation was the title of one of the video responses: "Titus Bramble: Maybe he's just not a defender"

Mike Georger said...

yeah i watched that one, which shockingly was of him scoring a nice goal. best part being that his celebration was so muted, im sure he realizes no amount of goals can make fans like him. fans other than opposing teams fans of course. titus 08.

Andrew said...

@ Georger: I agree. Armanti Edwards is beastly. I fear my Phoenix will not do well in Boone in two weeks. Wofford put up 51 against us last week, and we saw what happened to them against App St.

phil said...

The most encouraging part of the win today was Gomes' play. He has been so spotty, and he really played well today. BAE left him on an island on Kyut's goal, and he was just outclassed on Gerrard's rocket off the bar, but othwerwise, a very solid match for the Octopus. Hopefully this builds some confidence, even though 'arry will probably make a run at Calamity James anyway.

Andrew said...

I will offer my first daughter up to Tebow and Percy Harvin.

Or son, if, y'know, they're into that.

jape said...

@andrew: Agreed. You can also have that read "We need strength in the middle of the field" All the way thru to the back of the net. I am not an Almunia hater but he has not been doing us any favors since that stand out game at Fener.

The Likely Lad said...

best. week. ever.

Percy Harvin singlehandedly took my high school's state championship away in 2004. :(
