Ronaldo Replacement In. 72 Million Banked.

Gabriel Obertan makes a fool of former Liverpool player Bruno Cheyrou.

Manchester United have not waited too long to replace the winker. Gabriel Obertan had a medical yesterday and is set to sign today. The 20 year old right winger, who can also play up front (sound familiar) will cost United just 8 million quid. That leaves 72 million of the Ronaldo stash still to spend. Find out more about Gabriel Obertan after the jump.

According to the Sun, who got his position wrong, Obertan was wanted by Inter and Chelsea. So what can we find out about Ronaldo mark 2, I mean Gabriel Obertan.

Well he is 6ft 1, just like his predecessor. At 20 he has played 54 games for Bordeaux, scoring 3 goals. He spent some of last season on loan to Lorient where he played 15 games, scoring once. He is capped for France at under 19, and under 21 levels with his only under 21 goal coming at Nottingham Forest's City ground against England.

Obertan in action. He also switches to the left on occasion. Sound familiar?

Obertan isn't Ferguson's only right/left wing option. Zoran Tosic signed for United back in January along with right winger Adem Ljajic, known in Serbia as 'little Kaka'. The pair cost Fergie 17 million. Antonio Valencia joined from Wigan last week for 16 million. Add Nani and that's the left and the right covered. Looks as if Madrid and Cheslea can fight it out over Ribery.

In all fairness, Bruno Cheyrou is perfectly capable of making a fool of himself without any help.

This is true. If you look at the picture, he got suckered in with the old "im a right winger but i'm coming inside, oop, no im not" routine.

In all fairness, that is not Bruno Cheyrou.

That is Benoit Cheyrou, his brother. Bruno wears 14 for Rennes and Benoit wears 7 for Marseilles. Though I'm pretty sure that picture is from when he was playing for Auxerre as he was their captain.

In all fairness, one Cheyrou is as good (or in this case, as bad) as the next.@Georger. Good catch. I thought Bruno had 7 at Liverpool.

I only remember him wearing 28. King Harry of Metatarsal came in the next year and got 7.

Yep, you are correct sir, dunno why I pictured him in 7. Still, he was shit wasn't he?

Yeah he wasn't anything special, certainly not the 'next Zidane'. Ugh I do not miss GH.

Benoit is a talented, albeit not flashy, holding midfielder. Definitely much better than his brother.
