UF Quick Throw: Gerrard Charged

The details (few) can be found here. Really, if I were a Liverpool fan, my concern wouldn't be the legal punishment awaiting Gerrard, but the fact that he has really bad taste in music. Bonus points to whomever can guess what song Stevie G. was trying to get played.

My guess: "I Can Feel Him Cumming In My Hair Tonight."

Yeah, the whole thing is a mess. I think he'll get fined and some community service, and that's about it. The FA has already said that his charges won't affect his opportunities to play with the national side, so I'm assuming they won't press too much on his club career with any lengthy ban or anything.

At least I hope not.

I really wish that Stevie G asked to hear "Sussidio," but I'm guessing it was probably Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" instead.

Spectator: I will murder you in your sleep. Fuck that, I'll murder you when you're awake.

For the record, he was trying to get the DJ to spin "Turn It On Again", a seriously brilliant track. I don't blame him for wanting to fight the guy who wouldn't let him hear such excellent music.

And the list of "Things relating to LFC which LB is incapable of finding humor in" gets one item longer.

Wow I forgot about that website. Linkin Park is a rollercoaster!

Here's hoping he gets community service but I would assume SAF will somehow complain to a judge and he will get jail time.
In my experience the people highest up on "Colonel Gentleman's List of People Who Need a Smack in the Mouth" tend to be part time disc jockeys and bouncers, so I'm willing to be the guy had it coming.

PR: christ, I was kidding! I am very amused by it all. Was planning a look at the Genesis catalog for later today to find the songs really worth fighting for.

I'm worried about Wandering Bear, I can't imagine he is taking this well.

So maybe Stevie G was simply inspired by American Psycho and decided to crack some skulls because someone dissed Phil Collins?

My personal top five Phil Collins solo songs are: 1) Against All Odds. 2) In the Air Tonight. 3) I Don't Care Anymore. 4) One More Night. 5) Take Me Home.

dude, don't forget Abacab, and Invisible Touch. Those cats were doing prog years and years after prog was socially acceptable. Took guts to pull it off.

I said SOLO Phil Collins. Seriously, do I need to recite the entire monologue from American Psycho? Because I will (or at least copy and paste it from imdb).

Blah, you're no fun.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

If he does end up doing a bit of time this summer (doubtful - just buy the lad a new car or something), I can't wait to hear the new songs when he plays next year.

Actually, if he requested anything from X&Y he should go to jail on principle.

And the big lead break the story that Gerrard has been arrested and charged ....... thirty six hours late, quality work by another Arsenal fan over there.
