Beckham Nets 70-Yard Goal

David Beckham scored his fourth goal of the season as LA Galaxy defeated the Kansas City Wizards 3-1. Golden Balls' goal was the third of the game and sealed the victory. He struck the ball about 10 yards inside his own half catching the Wizards' goalkeeper upfield on a corner and placed a perfectly weighted ball into the back of the net.

Beckham's goal was reminiscent of his 1996 strike against Wimbledon as a young Manchester United midfielder. Video after the jump.

Bigus, it was 70 yards. First off, I was at the match ... behind the goal he scored in, matterafact. He weighted it perfectly and put it in the center of the net. Second, you couldn't hit a WalMart from 70 yards. Yer nan? Haven't seen her shoot...

I don't watch or play soccer, mostly because it's stupid, but what kind of goaltending strategy is that? Is it normal to have your goalie play 150 feet from the goal? That seems questionable to me.

@Blake: In injury time, when you are trailing a goal, it is not uncommon to advance the keeper into the attacking half to give the team an extra attacking option.

@Blake: Let me qualify my previous statement, it's not uncommon to advance the keeper on a corner in injury time.

It bounced a bunch of times!!! He is David Beckham for Christs sake you would think he could hit an empty net. Had it dropped under the bar (wimbledon) then I would be giving him his dues...but it didn't. Me Nan was a deadly shot and I could deffo hit the drive through pharmacy of a Walmart from 70 yards.
