England's Dirk Kuyt was voted the 2008 Player of the Year for the Three Lions by the fans. Rooney's reign caps a stellar 2008 for the Three Lions that was capped off by a non-appearance in Euro 2008. The year also saw the return of Goldenballs to the squad. This award comes at a great time with Rooney's recent triumphs over a traitorous corner flag.
Let's just compare how the Original Dirk Kuyt and England's Dirk Kuyt fared for their respective national teams.

Dirk Kuyt 28 years old. 49 Holland appearances. 10 goals.
Premier League 94 apps. 23 goals.
Chmapions League..Tumbleweeds.
Wayne Rooney. 23 Years old. 49 England apperances. 21 goals.
Premier League. 148 apps. 62 goals.
2 premier league titles, a champions league and the league cup. Club World cup.
UEFA 2004 team of the tourney, FIFA young World player of the year, PFA team of the year, PFA 2 time young player of the year, 4 time Premier league player of the month. United player of the year 06.
Certainly worth comparing.
From the time Kuyt joined the Prem in the 06/07 season he's received 6 yellows cards in all competitions including EURO 2008.
Rooney--since the 06/07 season--has received 33 yellow cards and 2 red cards in all competitions...
I will never tire of that picture or tweaking Bigus about his beloved Shrek.
@eplblast. Hmm. If only fewer cards meant shit. 33 means the guy is commited and like to win the ball back.
@FA. I do rate him. You will have a hard time finding me a player than can muscle the best defenders off the ball, score, track back and defend, hold the ball and bring players into the play, drop in and play creator and drag players wide to create space. Good luck with that.
To be fair, Kuyt's strike rate in the Champions League is actually a lot better than in the league. And he did score in the final against Milan, the tie winner against Inter, what should have been the winner against Chelsea if it weren't for that fucking worthless Ginger's own goal, the stoppage time goal against Liege that put them into the tournament this year, and a bunch of others.
And why do people suddenly give a shit about the club world cup? Just because United won it? Please.
Bigus is cranky today. Like an old man trying to send back soup.
@Georger. No one does, but its another accolade to prove my point.
@Kid ITS COLD.
