Sunday Bootroom: Gunners and Rovers

Southgate: worried. anxious. ugly.

Derelict in our duties, here's a place for Gunners to gush over their gorgeous goals, and for our resident Rovers fan as they take on the unpredictable Latics side at Ewood Park.

Team news for Blackburn/Wigan later.

Meanwhile, Arsenal up 1-0 (55 mins in), with a lovely Fabregas strike separating the two sides. 'Boro had a penalty shout turned down after Bendtner handled.

we have a sheva and ronnie sighting in Serie A.

wow, even the Gooners didn't bother to wake up early to watch this one. Of course, that appears to have been a wise decision. When you turn on the TV, and the first thing you hear is "it's like a training session" with Arsenal up 2-0, you don't feel bad about missing the first 75 minutes...

i can't get this game on TV. i'm watching the abysmal Palermo team get destroyed by the AC Milan retirement home.

God, three comments. Oof.

But no, I didn't bother either. Although perusing the stats it looks like Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem got destroyed. And that might have been fun to see.

Have fun in the Colaship, Gareth.

OK, now the main event is about to begin... :)

Up the Rovers!

How the hell did this game get the late Sunday afternoon time slot? Blackburn-Wigan doesn't exactly conjure up images of everlasting beauty and excitement...

JJF3: but your team is playing well! Just imagine what the score would be if Samba had any ball control whatsoever with his feet...

jjf3 said...

they are playing pretty well, but I can look at it as a neutral would, and it does seem an odd choice...
when the answer is: "Samba is our striker", you've asked the wrong fucking question...
also, I'd accept playing ugly and up 2-0 over playing nice and 0-0

BENNNNNIIIIIII!

get in

how did Samba not get called for a foul when he absolutely obliterated the keeper on the free kick? amazing.

jjf3 said...

yes!

jjf3 said...

wow, Samba did clear out Kirkland, didn't he?

Jim Hendry said...

see? now you've got the best of both: playing nice football and winning 2-0

Jim Hendry said...

jesus, that was exciting. Two great saves and a clearance off the line

Holy Shit, when did Robbo become awesome?

the minute the leaders in my fantasy soccer groups decided to put them in their roster. every single player they choose manages to work out. my selections? not so much.

I've really liked Villanueva when he's been given a chance to play. I'm not sure why BFS considered him surplus when he first took over the team...especially since MGP isn't exactly young...

A clean sheet, 3 points, and 2 added to our GD. Excellent game, even if did require three clearances off the line by non-keepers...

this real - sevilla match is pretty good. 1-0 sevilla with 60 minutes left.

1-1 at half.

Giggs wins the PFA's POY award. Ummm, guys, WTF??? I thought that MLB's Gold Glove Awards were the biggest clusterfuck of stupidity ever (Palmeiro gets one when he plays 28 games at 1B?), but now they have a new competitor...but, hey, those 12 starts were REALLY GREAT starts!!!

Die ManUre Die

Eh it's a sympathy vote (like the Untouchables!). If it's going to be a United player, I'd rather it be someone who absolutely doesn't deserve it, because that's a shitton funnier than Carrick getting it.

Ireland not winning young player of the year is highway robbery though, sorry Keith but it's true.

MG: I know its essentially a career-achievement Oscar award, but the whole thing is a joke (starting with the original "finalists"). And I'm with you on Ireland. Young's been good, but Ireland's been better...
