Marcus Hahnemann has been released by Reading.
Why do we care about an above-average keeper on a club that just missed out on the promotion playoff final? Because he's American (fuck yeah!). Interesting to see where he turns up in terms of whether it represents a move up, down or laterally.
"Marcus, telephone call for you... Someone called MLS."
ReplyDeleteNo... play anywhere* besides the MLS.

emeless.
ReplyDeleteSuper Norwich looking for a keeper. I'd take him.
ReplyDeleteDown into League One for Hahnemann? Ouch.
ReplyDelete/too soon?
It's always amazing to me how quickly goalkeepers go from good to crap. Two years ago people were praising him as a solid premiership gk, now he gets cut by a championship club. Brutal.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea of any details, and am too lazy to look them up, but I'd think there's got to be a Colaship or EPL bottom-dweller who can afford him salary-wise (which is why I presume Reading let him go). If he'd actually be happy with lesser salary, shit, NCFC would be lucky to have him. Still a very good keeper, though he's not aging as well as Friedel and Keller did...
ReplyDeletehe still a very solid keeper (#3 on the USMNT depth chart). reading has a younger/cheaper keeper who played well when Hahnemann was out injured.
